It's a dogs life

I love dogs, Though i dont own any, i really love them. These creatures are really affectionate and according to me more sensetive than us. My mum never allowed me to keep pets at my place, reason according to her is the 'r' word...responsibility; but i do realise its because she is scared of these magnificent creatures.
I am a collegate and for a few extra notes in my purse, i teach a girl on weekends. She owns a dog, a labrador, John. John is, and i really mean it, Really friendly. Although i love cuddling him, the ferocious bark that he greets me with is really scary. the moment i enter he starts sniffing me; let me tell you its not the most affectionate thing, atleast when his dripping nose touches your fingers and you realise how horribly close you are to its sharp teeth. This one time, i made up my mind to settle all my differences with John...That attempt failed due to,let's just say, 'an OVERFRIENDLY encounter'. His mouth was so close to my face that i could smell it and obviously make out that he had not been really concerned about oral hygene.
Strangely enough, i am not particularly scared of street dogs. Call it peculiar or even biased...but i prefer to cuddle a street dog than a one at my student's house
